Basketball Recap: Mercy Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Mercy Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 29-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 38-23 back in November.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camille Reid, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Emma Fowler was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 11 points and six steals.

Mercy Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy Prep Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on February 10, 2025. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, they will face off against Longview Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Longview Christian: 22.1, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy: 25.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
