Baseball Recap: Mecklenburg County Comes Up Short

Mecklenburg County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Magna Vista, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Phoenix fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Phoenix haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Russell Webb stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jake Wesson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Mecklenburg County's record now sits at 6-10. As for Magna Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
