Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Silverdale Academy Seahawks

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will head out to challenge the Silverdale Academy Seahawks at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Notre Dame got the win against CSTHEA by a conclusive 68-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Irish.

Gaas Herman was his usual excellent self, putting up 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Notre Dame's points. Another player making a difference was Maximo Santiesteban, who posted 15 points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Silverdale Academy over St. Andrews-Sewanee in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Silverdale Academy blew St. Andrews-Sewanee out of the water with a 68-31 final score. The game marked the Seahawks' most dominant win of the season.

Notre Dame better focus on containing Parker Holland and Briggs Hoewischer as the pair were huge in Silverdale Academy's win. Holland earned 16 points, while Hoewischer put up 11 points. That's the most points Hoewischer has posted since back in December of 2024.

Notre Dame's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Silverdale Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-17.

Notre Dame didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Silverdale Academy when the teams last played last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 38-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
