Mount Vernon is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Winnsboro just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 55-22 loss at the hands of the Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since September 13, 2024.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dawson Witherspoon, who rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Fountain, who rushed for 95 yards on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Malakoff). They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 61-0 win over Rains. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Mount Vernon's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Malakoff, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-3.
