Basketball Recap: North Judson-San Pierre Beats Caston for Their Eighth Straight Victory

North Judson-San Pierre had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.9 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Caston Comets as they made off with a 51-28 win. Given the Bluejays' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Comets are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Judson-San Pierre's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cailyn Tunis, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 23 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Tunis' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Lehiy, who posted seven points in addition to ten rebounds and five steals.

North Judson-San Pierre smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Caston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madisyn Douglass put up 18 points. Douglass has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

North Judson-San Pierre's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Caston, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

North Judson-San Pierre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-41 victory against North White on the 17th. As for Caston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-32 loss against Pioneer on the 17th.
