Preview: Wesleyan Christian Mustangs vs. Coyle Bluejackets
Wesleyan Christian is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Coyle is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wesleyan Christian Mustangs will take on the Coyle Bluejackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Wesleyan Christian got themselves on the board against Watts, but Watts never followed suit. They breezed by the Engineers on the road to the tune of 49-0.
Meanwhile, Coyle was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Copan 66-16 at home.
Coyle can attribute much of their success to John Tarbox, who rushed for 183 yards while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and Alex Jennings, who rushed for 180 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Tarbox is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Wesleyan Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Coyle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Wesleyan Christian against Coyle in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 72-22 victory. Does Wesleyan Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coyle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
