Basketball Recap: West Shore Christian Academy Comes Up Short

West Shore Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against West Shore Christian Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-57 back in January.

Leading Dayspring Christian Academy to victory were Gabe Mellinger and Noah Huxta. Mellinger dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards, while Huxta went 8 for 14 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mellinger a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Nate Swift, who posted four points and eight boards.

West Shore Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

West Shore Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they and High Point Baptist Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
