Baseball Recap: Gilmer's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gilmer made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marshall, but still couldn't quite topple them. The Gilmer Buckeyes were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over the Marshall Mavericks on Thursday. Considering the Buckeyes have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory (which was Gilmer's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Gilmer wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Kaufman on the 27th. As for Marshall, they will be taking part in a tournament against Paris at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall is facing Paris at the right time seeing as Paris is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
