Softball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Comes Up Short

If La Jolla Country Day was riding high fresh off their 21-0 takedown of El Cajon Valley on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Torreys fell just short of the Liberty Charter Lions by a score of 3-1 on Friday.

Ayla Desai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, La Jolla Country Day saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josephine Criado, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

La Jolla Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Liberty Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

As of now, neither La Jolla Country Day nor Liberty Charter have any future games scheduled.
