Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Guilford Wildcats vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles

The Eastern Guilford Wildcats will take on the Eastern Alamance Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Eastern Guilford has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Eastern Alamance will arrive with three straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when Eastern Guilford took on Dudley on Tuesday. Eastern Guilford came up short against Dudley, falling 17-5.

Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance won against Page on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Eastern Alamance blew past Cedar Ridge 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Zack Merchel looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Conner Horner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Christian Vieau was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Eastern Alamance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

Eastern Guilford's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Eastern Alamance, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.
