Preview: Lutheran Lions vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers
Lutheran has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Lewis-Palmer Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Lutheran is ranked 77th, while Lewis-Palmer is ranked 59th).
Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Discovery Canyon 70-39 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Lutheran has posted yet this season.
Lutheran relied on the efforts of Berkley Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds, and Jayda Vigil, who scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vigil has scored all season. Makenna Mudd was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Even though Lewis-Palmer has not done well against Palmer Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lewis-Palmer walked away with a 46-33 victory over Palmer Ridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lewis-Palmer.
Lutheran pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Lewis-Palmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Everything went Lutheran's way against Lewis-Palmer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Lutheran made off with a 59-35 win. Does Lutheran have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lewis-Palmer turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
