Basketball Recap: John Marshall Comes Up Short

John Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union Local Jets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Monarchs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-60 back in December of 2024.

Union Local was led to victory by Brandon Mehl and Dre Saunders. Mehl went 9 of 18 on his way to 26 points and five boards, while Saunders went 8 of 10 on his way to 21 points and five assists. Billy Schumacher was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

John Marshall's record is now 2-7. As for Union Local, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Marshall will take on Brooke at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union Local, they will face off against Buckeye Local at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
