Soccer Game Preview: Dyer County vs. Haywood

The Dyer County Choctaws will challenge the Haywood Tomcats at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Dyer County is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Ripley on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what Dyer County needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

They hit Ripley with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anthony Jimenez, Hunter Anderson, Tyler Fowlkes, and Daniel Witherington.

Meanwhile, Haywood has been struggling as of late, and they have yet to win a game this season. Neither they nor Dyersburg could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Haywood's first draw of the season.

Haywood's draw gives them a new season record of 0-5-1. As for Dyer County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6-2.

Dyer County took their victory against Haywood in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1 score. Do the Choctaws have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tomcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
