Baseball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Loss

Chesapeake extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-19 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Gallia Rebels. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Chesapeake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Cremeans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for South Gallia, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 16th.

On South Gallia's side, Aydrien Clickenger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. Clickenger is becoming a predictor of the Rebels' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chesapeake will challenge Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Gallia, they will face off against Symmes Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
