League recap: League standings in flux as Friendswood jumps, Goose Creek Memorial drops

4A Region III District 24 league recap: 4/3/13

Friendswood made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from third to first place in 4A Region III District 24 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Goose Creek Memorial fell hardest in the standings, dropping from first all the way to third place after going 1-1 in the past week.

Santa Fe (13-9, 5-2) has won four games in a row, the league's longest active win streak.

The Indians' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 12 hits and one walk to lead the league in both categories.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Jacob Mullins, who collected two hits in three at bats for a .667 average.

The Mustangs' Brent Janak led the league in strikeouts this week with ten. With 45 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.



Dylan Ebbs struck out ten in Santa Fe's 11-6 win over Texas City on March 26. Over five innings of work, he gave up five hits and six runs.
