Basketball Recap: Mead Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Mead's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Longmont Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 69-54. The Mavericks pushed the score to 50-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.

Kyler Crump continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 19 on his way to 27 points and five rebounds. Those 27 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Windhorst, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Longmont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Lombrano, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Levi Varga, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Mead's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Longmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mead will host Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mead's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Longmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monarch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
