Softball Recap: Desert Christian Has No Trouble Against St. Augustine Catholic

Desert Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves as they made off with a 15-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Mikayla Hodges made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Hodges was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Desert Christian got a massive performance out of Aimee Lloyd, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexa Yarger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.

Desert Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Desert Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for St. Augustine Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Desert Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-8 defeat against Willcox on the 16th. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they have also already played their next match, a 14-2 loss against Benson on the 16th.
