Basketball Game Preview: Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns vs. Hargrave Falcons

Hamshire-Fannett and Hargrave are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns will take on the Hargrave Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hamshire-Fannett will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Liberty on Friday. Hamshire-Fannett claimed a resounding 60-26 win over Liberty. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Panthers are ranked 1058th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hargrave had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Longhorns as they made off with a 69-44 victory. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Hargrave pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for Hamshire-Fannett, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Hamshire-Fannett came up short against Hargrave in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 57-51. Can Hamshire-Fannett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
