Denbigh hasn't had much luck against Hampton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Denbigh 3.8, Hampton 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Thursday, Denbigh came up short against Gloucester and fell 9-5. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Russel Clark put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
Clark wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Foote, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Luis Caez-Rodriquez was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hampton strolled into their game last Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Kecoughtan with a sharp 10-4 win.
Like Denbigh, Hampton also got a great game from a two-way player: Jayden Valentine. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Valentine was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Jaycob Flores, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Toby Weymouth, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Hampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Hampton pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Denbigh, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denbigh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hampton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Denbigh suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Hampton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
