Wadley hasn't had much luck against Woodland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wadley Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Woodland Bobcats at 1:30 p.m. Wadley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

While Wadley's victory against Winterboro wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wadley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Winterboro on Wednesday.

Payton Calhoun was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over ten innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). Calhoun was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-6.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bentley Mulkey, who went 3-for-6 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kynlee Mason, who went 3-for-6 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Wadley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Woodland won against Ranburne on Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Woodland never let Randolph County get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Like Wadley, Woodland also got a great game from a two-way player: Railey Williams. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine contests.

In other batting news, Alyssa Taylor was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Emma Elsberry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Five bases. while going 2-for-3.

Woodland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. The win got Wadley back to even at 2-2.

Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wadley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480.
