Football Recap: Eli Malnar and Dakari Burr Pace Air Academy Defense

Air Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 36-12 margin over the Rampart Rams. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Kadets' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Air Academy found their leader in sophomore Madden Pohl, who rushed for 103 yards and two scores on only 12 carries.

Air Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Air Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Eli Malnar and Dakari Burr. Malnar also made four total tackles, which is notable because Air Academy is 2-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 3-4 otherwise. Malnar got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win got Air Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Rampart, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Air Academy will venture away from home to square off against Golden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rampart does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
