Basketball Recap: Granada Takes a Loss

Granada lost against McClave back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Granada Bobcats were beaten by the McClave Cardinals 70-28. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-10.

Granada's loss came despite strong showings from Maddox Coleman and Angelo Martinez. Coleman posted 13 points and seven rebounds, while Martinez scored six points and seven boards. That was a full 46.4% of Granada's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

McClave found their leader in sophomore Tuff Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last nine games he's played. Ethan Bronniman was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

The loss snapped Granada's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record. As for McClave, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Granada has already played their next contest, a 49-43 win against Wiley on the 1st. As for McClave, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-48 victory against Holly on the 1st.
