Baseball Recap: Stevens Find Success

Stevens posted their closest win since April 22, 2025 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees, sneaking past 6-4.

Adan Castillo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Stevens saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Vargas, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Vargas has hit this season. John Tejeda was another, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Stevens is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season. As for Tuloso-Midway, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Stevens will be taking part in a tournament against Falfurrias at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fightin' Jerseys have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Tuloso-Midway, they will take on Ray in a tournament on Friday. The Texans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Warriors & Cherokees' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
