Basketball Recap: Sylacauga Aggies vs. Central of Clay County Volunteers
After flying high against Lincoln last Friday, Sylacauga came back down to earth. The Sylacauga Aggies were outmatched by the Central of Clay County Volunteers and fell 60-32. The Aggies lost against the Volunteers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 43-38 score last time.
Central of Clay County's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ramyah Billingsley, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That's the most points Billingsley has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Zy?Keria Heflin, who posted 12 points.
Sylacauga has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Central of Clay County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sylacauga will take on Briarwood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Briarwood Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Sylacauga surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central of Clay County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shelby County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
