Softball Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Washington Warriors

Mitchell hasn't had much luck against Washington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Kernels will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Mitchell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Washington will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Mitchell extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Kernels walked away with a 7-4 victory over Watertown.

Rylee Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matteah Graves, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Washington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tea on Thursday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Titans.

Washington's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mitchell, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
