Soccer Game Preview: Anaheim vs. Saugus

The Anaheim Colonists will face off against the Saugus Centurions at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Anaheim's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Anaheim is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand San Marcos a 1-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Colonists were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Saugus came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Panthers. Given the Centurions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Panthers are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saugus pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Anaheim, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
