Softball Game Preview: Jimtown Jimmies vs. Tippecanoe Valley Vikings

The Jimtown Jimmies will head out to square off against the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Jimtown fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Prairie Heights on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Tippecanoe Valley was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell just short of Fairfield by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Dalynne Bussard put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bussard wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kahlyn Manns, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Tippecanoe Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Jimtown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.

Jimtown came out on top in a nail-biter against Tippecanoe Valley when the teams last played on May 1st, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jimmies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
