Baseball Recap: Columbus Victorious

Columbus picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Corona del Sol Aztecs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Explorers.

Jason Vazquez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Columbus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jose Correa, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Robbie Oyarzun also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Corona del Sol, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.

Looking ahead, Columbus will face off against Miami at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stingarees will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Corona del Sol, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-3 win against Sunnyslope on the 14th.
