The First Coast Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Oakleaf Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 912 yards in their previous games.

First Coast will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Sandalwood on Friday. The Buccaneers walked away with a 35-25 victory over the Saints.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Coast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Pollard, who picked up 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pollard showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 52 yards.

First Coast didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Miguel Jimenez, Tony Kennedy, and Mahrle Moe picked up one apiece. Kennedy also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because First Coast is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Kennedy got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, Oakleaf made sure to put some points up on the board against Fletcher last Friday. The Knights blew past the Senators 38-9. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Senators are ranked 101st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

First Coast better keep an eye on Jack McKissock. He was instrumental in Oakleaf's win, throwing for 263 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes. That's the most passing touchdowns McKissock has posted since back in November of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Oakleaf's defense and their five sacks. Mason Thomas was especially locked on to Fletcher's QB and sacked him twice. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Fletcher's side was Kamauri Townsend, who made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

First Coast's record now sits at 4-2. As for Oakleaf, their record is now 5-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. First Coast has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Oakleaf struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 202 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

First Coast took a serious blow against Oakleaf when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 44-0. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
