Basketball Recap: Chipley Comes Up Short

Chipley lost against Holmes County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chipley Tigers took a blow against the Holmes County Blue Devils, falling 76-31. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 42nd).

Holmes County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bri Adams, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points along with eight steals and five assists. Adams is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacee Bowers, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 14 points and four steals.

Chipley's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Holmes County, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-2.

Chipley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holmes County, they will square off against Graceville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holmes County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Graceville likes a good challenge.
