Basketball Recap: Pasquotank County Takes a Loss

Pasquotank County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holmes Aces. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 49-40 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Pasquotank County lost, don't look at Anylah Bowe. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 boards and ten blocks. Bowe is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted five or more in the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. Veychara Eley was another key player, putting up six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Pasquotank County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Pasquotank County's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Holmes, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Currituck County the next time they take the court. Pasquotank County will host Currituck County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Holmes will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
