Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Healdsburg

Healdsburg won the last time they faced St. Vincent de Paul and things went their way on Friday too. The Greyhounds came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Greyhounds.

Healdsburg got a great performance from Eric Nielsen as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Nielsen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Greyhounds are 9-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xander Harms, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Mariani, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Healdsburg pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, Healdsburg will face off against Kelseyville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Greyhounds 3.3, the Knights 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they will challenge Piner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Prospectors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.53 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
