Baseball Recap: Hancock Comes Up Short

Hancock had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 14-15 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the Evergreen Park Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Evergreen Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Evergreen Park, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Evergreen Park's part, Evan Snyder-Murphy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Snyder-Murphy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Yarim Garcia was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Jake Bishop also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Coming up, Hancock will venture away from home to challenge Oak Lawn at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Evergreen Park, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-1 victory against Hillcrest on the 15th.
