Preview: Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars vs. Whitko Wildcats
Lakeland Christian Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Whitko Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lakeland Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
Lakeland Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 last Saturday. They were outmatched by Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at home and fell 62-25. While losing is never fun, Lakeland Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian is ranked 120th).
Lakeland Christian Academy's loss came about despite a quality game from Dayton Sibert, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sibert has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Whitko entered their tilt with Northfield with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Whitko beat Northfield on Saturday by the very same score they won with last week: 47-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Whitko has posted yet this season.
Lakeland Christian Academy bumped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Whitko, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Lakeland Christian Academy came up short against Whitko in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 48-40. Can Lakeland Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
