Thornton posted their closest victory since October 3, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past the Arvada Bulldogs 13-11. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Makayla Florez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abbi Trombetta, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Layla Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The win made it two in a row for Thornton and bumps their season record up to 6-1-1.

Thornton has already played their next match, a 15-3 victory against Kennedy on the 2nd. As for Arvada, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-0 win against Lincoln on the 3rd.
