Softball Recap: Cannon County Find Success

Cannon County won the last time they faced Grundy County and things went their way on Sunday too. The Lions came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Kathryn Trail spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anna Wood, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of August Morris, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Cannon County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cannon County's record is now 5-9. As for Grundy County, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cannon County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellowjackets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
