Volleyball Recap: STEM School Highlands Ranch Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After losing to Lake County the last time they met, STEM School Highlands Ranch decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Spartans walked away with a 2-0 win over the Panthers on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Their offense was headlined by Elizabeth (Lizzy) Hegemann and Morgan Hamm, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Evelyn (Evie) Grubb and her five assists. Hegemann was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

STEM School Highlands Ranch's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lake County, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. STEM School Highlands Ranch will take on SkyView Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake County, they will square off against Vail Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
