Esperanza is 8-2 against Yorba Linda since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Aztecs will head out to challenge the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Esperanza gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Sonora 15-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aztecs.

Leilani Thomas was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Madison Modrell was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Esperanza always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, while Yorba Linda put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Troy. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Samantha Cook was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Gomez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Esperanza now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Yorba Linda, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Esperanza's way against Yorba Linda when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Esperanza made off with an 8-0 win. Do the Aztecs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
