Basketball Recap: Marble Falls Comes Up Short

Marble Falls extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-10. The contest between the Mustangs and the Mexia Black Cats didn't end well, with the Mustangs falling 58-44. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1117th, while the Black Cats are ranked 460th).

As for Mexia, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games.

Leading Mexia to victory were Kelan Collins and Ja'Darrius Davis. Collins shot 44% from the field on his way to 25 points in addition to seven assists and three steals, while Davis went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points. The matchup was Collins' fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Adrian Mack, Jr. also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Marble Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-47 defeat against Legacy Ranch on the 12th. As for Mexia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-44 loss against University on the 12th.
