Basketball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Academy Gets the Win

Dugger Union came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Lighthouse Christian Academy, but Ellie Mae Winders wouldn't allow it. The Lions were the clear victors by a 69-49 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday for which the team can thank Winders, who shot 61% from the field en route to 42 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lighthouse Christian Academy's points.

Another player making a difference was Linnea Connell, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Dugger Union saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bella Gallion went 11-for-20 to rack up 24 points. Abigail Shepler was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

The victory got Lighthouse Christian Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Dugger Union, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
