Mater Dei waltzed into their match on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the JSerra Catholic Lions. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Monarchs also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Mater Dei had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-23.

Leading Mater Dei to victory were Lizzy Robinson and Sam Capinpin. Robinson had 12 digs and five assists, while Capinpin had 13 assists. That's the most digs Robinson has posted over her last 16 contests.

Despite the loss, JSerra Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Goodrich had 20 digs and three assists. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Goodrich.

Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 26-4. As for JSerra Catholic, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mater Dei is set to square off against their familiar foe Orange Lutheran at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, JSerra Catholic will challenge rival Santa Margarita at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
