Softball Recap: Knox Central Comes Up Short

Knox Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Leslie County Eagles, falling 15-5. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

Hannah Melton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Aubrey Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Knox Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Leslie County, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knox Central will host Cumberland Gap at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leslie County, they will be playing at home against Harlan County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.88 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
