Softball Recap: Morgan Huskies vs. Portland Highlanders
Morgan extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They came up short against the Portland Highlanders, falling 21-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.
As for Portland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Portland's part, Kaelin Mullen tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Lily Hale was incredible, getting on base in six of her nine plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Ella Royea was another key player, getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances with two runs.
Morgan has already played their next game, a 20-3 loss against Westbrook on the 14th. As for Portland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-13 victory against Windham on the 14th.
