Softball Game Preview: Wrightstown Tigers vs. Oconto Falls Panthers

The Wrightstown Tigers will head out to face off against the Oconto Falls Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wrightstown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Little Chute. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Oconto Falls and Little Chute had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers blew past the Mustangs 13-0 on Tuesday.

Randi Metzler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Izzy Otto was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Josie Holtz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oconto Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Little Chute only posted a batting average of .000.

Wrightstown's record now sits at 10-12. As for Oconto Falls, their record is now 8-11.
