Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Gateway Gators
The Mt. Diablo Red Devils had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 71-70 photo finish over Gateway. With that victory, Mt. Diablo brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Leading Mt. Diablo to victory were Zaire Albert and Willy Jones. Albert scored 19 points, while Jones dropped a double-double on 10 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Albert has scored at least 25% of Mt. Diablo's points. Taishaun Glover was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Mt. Diablo's victory bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Gateway, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Mt. Diablo will head out on the road to face off against Tennyson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tennyson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Diablo in California (Tennyson is ranked 233rd, while Mt. Diablo is ranked 752nd). As for Gateway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bentley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
