Recap: Riverdale Rebels vs. Bonnabel Bruins

The Riverdale Rebels posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past Bonnabel 38-35. Given Riverdale's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Bonnabel is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale was led to victory by Jenna Thibodeaux and Mazie Parmley. Thibodeaux scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Parmley scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks. Mikeya Allen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.

Bonnabel's loss came despite strong showings from La?Nyah Laneair and Anaiah Perry. Laneair scored 15 points along with two steals, while Perry scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Bonnabel's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Loriell Lewis, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

Riverdale's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Bonnabel, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Riverdale will be playing at home against John Ehret at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bonnabel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against King Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. King Charter comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
