Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Macarthur's 11th in Last 12 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, MacArthur rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the Boerne-Champion Chargers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in February.

The result came thanks to Korey Alston's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because MacArthur is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, J.T. Gray was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

MacArthur is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Boerne-Champion, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 25-8 record.

MacArthur will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
