Baseball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Comes Up Short

Bishop Rosecrans entered their matchup against Grove City Christian on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bishops fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bishops couldn't push the score so high this time.

Coen Grandstaff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Rosecrans saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacobie Balo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Bishop Rosecrans' defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Grove City Christian, their record now sits at 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Rosecrans will welcome Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Grove City Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bishop Ready at 5:15 p.m. The Silver Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
