Basketball Recap: Petersburg Takes a Loss

Petersburg was the 61-39 winner over Maggie Walker when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Petersburg Crimson Wave took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maggie Walker on Monday. The Crimson Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maggie Walker found their leader in sophomore Jamie Martin, who posted 23 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The match was Martin's fifth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Williams, who earned four points and 13 rebounds.

Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Maggie Walker, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Petersburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-35 loss against Matoaca on the 4th. As for Maggie Walker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-41 defeat against J.R. Tucker on the 4th.
