Volleyball Recap: Calvary Lutheran Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Calvary Lutheran can now relate to. They came up short against the Ellington Whippets on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since September 25th.

Sydney Foutes paced Calvary Lutheran's offense, picking up six kills. Foutes really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. Alayna Sprengel controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Calvary Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-2. As for Ellington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 24 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-4-1 record this season.

Calvary Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ellington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Winona on the 1st.
